Getting back in the saddle is never easy. This is made even more difficult by the way in which you got out of the saddle in the first place. Did you choose did get off on your own? To follow some other path, handle some other business that came up, or just needed a break and some you time? Did you get bucked out of the saddle and land on the side of your head?
There is going to come a time when you are getting out of the saddle, bet on it. Stephen King got out of the saddle for a little bit when a van bucked him off. He even stated that he was scared to try writing again because he thought he might have lost it. No matter what the grind is, no matter what you are working towards there are going to be setbacks. How you handle them will determine what you level of success is. If you decide to make no preparations for the times when you get out of the saddle and you do not get back at it, then that is your level of success. Right where you got out of the saddle and said, I’m a head out. I am currently battling a plethora of setbacks. Some are big, some are small. All are positive setbacks which make it all the more frustrating that I am getting set back in the first fricken place. What is a positive setback? Good question, you get a gold star. School is a positive setback. I need to finish school, I am learning a lot in school and making great connections. Is schoolwork getting in the way of my free writing time? Yes, yes, it is. Sometimes the hardest part of getting back in the saddle is knowing that everyone is going to see the dust on you. I know, this is a pride thing, I know. I was so determined to write an exciting blog post today and begin working on a video to help other people out when I noticed the last time I posted on this website. Five months ago. That took all the drive I had right out of my sails. That reminded me just how long I have been out of the saddle. But. But here I am, dusting off the old saddle and ready to ride again. Let’s get after this. Let me know some tips you have for getting after your goals. What do you do to stay motivated? To push past the hard times, the dry times, the times you do not think you are good enough. I am looking for some tips here to help with future setbacks, because we all know they are coming.
