How is everyone doing today? Good? I am happy to hear that. As for me I am super busy but hey, that’s life. Before I get started on this week’s post I have to tell you that I just finished reading The Martian Magnus Chase. Both were amazing novels that were an absolute blast to read. The Martian kept me on the edge of my seat all the way up until the very end and the writing style was unique and intriguing. Magnus Chase is a great addition to the world that Riordan has created and was just as good an entertaining as the others.
Now that that is out of the way we can get to the entire point of this post, which I am not sure what that is just yet. I was trying to think of some deep philosophical post that would change your life or something but for the life of me I can’t think of anything that is that entertaining. We could talk about why people write in the first place. We could talk about why people read. We could even talk about how they close the bus door after the driver gets off. I think today’s topic though will be something a little closer to heart for me.
Dragons. I love dragons and if you are reading this post then you probably like dragons as well. I will pick up a book and at least give it a chance if there is a dragon in the story. Today, for you writers out there, we will talk about two types of dragons that are quite often found in fantasy writing. The first is intelligent dragons. These are dragons that are either born with or learn… well stuff. They can communicate either verbally or telepathically, they usually start out wise and all-knowing or they can learn to become so. I like this style of dragons because it makes them characters that you get to use in your writing.
The other type of dragon is more animalistic in nature. More beast like. A great example is in the novel The Dragon Jouster. These dragons were hatched from eggs and tamed. While these dragons do have personalities like pets do, they cannot communicate. These dragons are fun to use in writing because they can be unpredictable in your writing even if they are tame. All in all I love dragons.
If you have another type of dragon you like or if there is another creature you want to talk about please leave a comment bellow.
