Beginnings and Endings.

To start this post of we will be talking about beginnings and endings, my two favorite parts of writing, kind of. I have to state that the following posts are my personal opinion and not those of anyone else’s, unless you agree with them then they are yours too.

Ok so let’s start at the beginning, pun intended. For me, when I start a new writing project, be it a novel or a short story, I get a huge adrenalin rush. For one it’s because I am writing. I am actually writing a book and that to me is still the coolest and greatest job in the world. So for me I feel privileged every time I sit down to write. The second reason is because it’s like going to an airport and closing your eyes and pointing at the departure list. You have no idea what’s about to happen.

A lot of times I have a general idea of where I want the story to go or how I would like the plot to progress but there are a lot of times where the characters or the story begin to have a life of their own and I just follow behind writing down everything I see and hear.

So in closing, beginnings, I love them.

Now it’s time for endings to get some center stage attention. I am sure that before I even get started you will be able to guess why I love the endings so much. I would have to say the biggest reason I love endings is because when I am finished with a novel it is an immense weight off of my shoulders. To hold the finished manuscript in my hand is absolutely amazing.

The other reason I enjoy endings so much is because I love tying everything together and having it all come together. I am not sure if I am explaining this right but I just look forward to bringing everything to a close and leaning back in my chair and hitting print for the last time.  I enjoy, to an extent, every part of the writing process but for me, starting a new work and penning the first and last words are the best parts.

Please feel free to leave a comment and tell me what your favorite part of writing is and why. Until next time, have a great day.
